Lake Pichola - UdaipurLake Pichola
The beautiful Lake Pichola was exaggerated by Maharaja Udai Singh after he founded the city. This lake is 4 km in length and 3 km wide. This is the most important and the most beautiful lake in Rajasthan which makes it an important part of Rajasthan Tour. It is situated in the Lake city of Rajasthan ehich is Udaipur. The Lake Pichola oozes a never seen beauty for its viewer. Out in the lake are two islands one is Jagniwas and other one is Jagmandir. Two major tourist attractions of Udaipur are located in and around the lake. The lake is disregarded by the extravagant City Palace complex while the astonishing Lake Palace occupies right side of island in the middle of the lake. In early morning or in the evening when the sun is rising and setting and spreading a captivating magnetism on the lake and surrounding areas, tourists can enjoy a boat ride in the Lake Pichola.
Fateh Sagar Lake
This is the second most important lake after Lake Pichola in the city of Udaipur. This lake was constructed in the year 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh. The lake was destroyed by flood waters. Soon after, it was reconstructed by Maharana Fateh Singh. The lake is allied to the Lake Pichola in the south by a canal passing through Swaroop Sagar Lake and Rang Sagar Lake. The objective behind construction of this lake was to provide water for irrigation but today it fulfills the need for drinking water as well. Tourists can enjoy a boat ride in the lake along with the beautiful views of gigantic hills on three sides. The lake has three well known islands occupied by a public park, solar observatory and a jet fountain.
Rajasmand Lake
Rajsamand Lake is located near Rajsamand, an urban in the Indian state of Rajasthan. This pretty lake was built in the 17th Century by maharaja Raj Singh, it is around 1.75 miles wide, 4 miles long, and 60 feet deep This Lake is not very far away from Udaipur, if you are heading to Kumbhalgarh lies a place called Rajasmand. The place is known for its picturesque Rajasmand Lake.
The lake was the result of a dam constructed across the Gomati, Kelwa, and Tali rivers by same. The objective for building of the dam and lake was to provide employment for sufferers of a widespread drought and famine (1661) and to provide canal irrigation to local farmers. With the setting sun in the scenery and a stroll on the banks of the lake is a real delight for tourists.
Ana Sagar Lake - AjmerAna Sagar Lake
Ana Sagar Lake is a synthetic lake situated in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. It is named after the emperor Anaji Chauhan, who constructed this lake during 1135 -1150 AD. This is a beautiful example of lake created by the efforts of man in Rajasthan. Later on some additions were made to the lake by the Mughal emperors. Jehangir built Daulat Bagh Gardens and Shahjahan "Baradari" a beautiful marble pavilion to boost the beauty of the lake. In the middle of the lake there is an island which can be reached by an enjoyable ride motor boat. Marching on the beautiful bank of this lake is very pleasant.
Gadsisar Lake
In the dry region of Jaisalmer, Gadsisar Lake has its own importance. The lake was once a major source of water supply in the city of Jaisalmer and as such it is not surprising to find numerous shrines and temples around it. A yellow sandstone gateway that leads to the lake was constructed by a prostitute, Tilon, despite disapproval from the Maharaja.
Pushkar Lake
The Pushkar Lake is one of the most visited lake and precious pilgrimage spot in the Rajasthan which makes it an important part of the Rajasthan tour. According to Hindu Mythology the Pushkar Lake was produced by Lord Brahma by assimilation the waters of four divine places of Hindus in India - Badrinath, Jagannath, Rameshwaram and Dwarka. It is called the Tirtharaj, the king of all Tirthas. The lake is bounded by 52 ghats and there is a belief that without bathe in Pushkar Lake no pilgrimage is complete. The Pushkar Lake is must visit during the final night of the famous Pushkar fair when the thousands of sparkling oil lamps are left into the water.
Sambhar Lake
The largest salt water lake in India is Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan. This is a major source of salt production in India. The lake stretches in length for 22.5 km and its width varies from 3 to 11 km. The lake is fed by numerous freshwater streams and the water depths of this lake vary from 60 cm during summer season to about 3 m in the season of the monsoon. It is located in Nagaur and Jaipur and also touches Ajmer district. Sambhar Lake produces around 210,000 tonnes of salt each year, and makes the Rajasthan one of the top three salt-producing states of our country India. Some migrating birds also visit the water body during the winter.
Buland Darwaza - UdaipurJaisamand Lake
Udaipur is known as the city of lakes, no wonder so many lakes are there in Udaipur. Around Udaipur there are numerous artificial lake created by effots of man, one of them is Jaisamand lake. This man made lake is located 48 km south west of Udaipur which is created by storing the Gomti River in 17th century by Maharaja Jai Singh. There are striking marble chhatris around the edge with each an elephant in front. The summer Palaces of the Udaipur queen are also here.
Balsamand Lake
Although Jodhpur is dominated by a massive fort on the rocky hill. But its excursion is mixture of mandir, lake, palaces and oasis. Ancient lake around Jodhpur is Balsamand Lake. This Lake originally constructed in 1159 along a garden to the north of the city. There is palace which was built in 1936 stands by the lake side. This is a famously known expedition spot. The garden is open from 8 am to 6 pm.
